Petrol Price In Delhi Reduced By Rs 8 Per litre.

The Delhi government lowered the value-added tax (VAT) on fuel prices from 30% to 19.40% on Wednesday, bringing petrol prices in the national capital down by Rs 8 per litre.

The decision was made earlier in the day during a Cabinet meeting hosted by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. On the eve of Diwali last month, the Centre lowered excise duty on petrol by 5 per litre and diesel by 10 per litre to lower retail prices across the country.

Several states and union territories, particularly those headed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its supporters, followed suit after the Centre’s surprising decision.

Following the Centre’s decision, petrol prices across the country stayed steady for the 28th straight day on Wednesday.

Petrol was selling for 103.97 a litre earlier in the day, while diesel was selling for 86.67 a litre before the Delhi government decided to lower VAT on fuel prices.
